On July 10, 2008, Governor Blagojevich chopped $19 million from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources budget as part of $1.5 billion in line-item vetoes he made to balance the 2009 budget. Since then, a growing public outcry has called for a restoration of IDNR funding to keep our parks and historic facilities open and staffed. Ordinary citizens have staged protests, signed petitions and generated dozens of stories in the media.

In response to public sentiment, State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson and Sen. Linda Holmes have introduced supplemental appropriations bills, HB 6698 and SB 3057, that would restore full funding to the IDNR. The Senate is reconvening for a special session Monday, Sep. 22, and your senator needs to know you want him to support SB 3057.

Contact your Senator TODAY and ask him or her to co-sponsor and pass SB 3057 to restore ALL of the funding cut from the IDNR. Click here to take action.
